Richard Kilpatrick (Banbridge GC) made the most of perfect scoring conditions to win the Waterford Castle Pro-Am.

The Banbridge GC professional carded a bogey-free seven under par 65 to beat Sean O'Donoghue (Kilkenny GC).

“If you go bogey-free on any day you will normally finish with good round,” said Richard.

“Everything was solid. I hit all the par fives in two, holed one for eagle and two-putted the other three. Missed four greens and got up and down every time.”

David Higgins (Waterville Links), Damien McGrane (Carlow GC) and Ciaran Molloy (Ardee GC), finished in third on three under par.

Richard picked up three birdies on the front nine as he reached the turn in three under 33.
On the way home he birdied the par five 13th eagled the par-five 15th and signed off with a birdie on the last as he came home in 32.

“I was playing at The Heritage and somehow lost seven balls in that round,” said Richard.

“I went to the range to try to find out what was going on and found a hairline fracture in the head of my driver.

“So I got a new driver head, an M5. I love it, it has done the job for me over the last two or three rounds.”

It was a double success for Richard who also won the team prize guiding his amateur partners, Donnacha Larkin, Neil Cullen and Dermot Jacob to victory with 100 points
