Salisbury and Talbott triumph

10/07/2019

David Salisbury

There was a tie at the top in the Girton Pro-Am with David Salisbury (Three Rivers Golf & Country Club) and Mark Talbott (Thorpe Hall) firing respective rounds of six-under-par 63.

Salisbury began with four straight birdies but temporarily stuttered with a double-bogey at  the seventh.

He was back on the birdie trail deep into his back nine, finishing with gains at four of the closing five holes.

Talbott, who began at the 10th, was almost away to as fast a start as Salisbury – he was two-under through two holes.

And similar to Salisbury he took a shine to the opening holes on the front nine, birdieing the first, second and third before moving to six-under at the fifth.

He closed out with four straight pars to sit alongside his fellow Essex PGA golfer – and the pair remained at the summit.

Simon Lilly (De Vere Staverton Estate) got closest in the pursuit, signing for a five-under round after birdies at his final two holes.

Jason Levermore (Little Channels Golf Centre) led the winning team on a total of 115 – five clear.
