Sanders Returns In Triumph

Mark Sanders, who is making a successful comeback after a lengthy break from playing competitive golf, won the Gloucester and Somerset PGA medal at Chipping Sodbury with a one-under-par 71.

The Knowle club professional shared top spot with consistent winner Ross Langdon (Brickhampton Court) in only his fourth outing for many months.

The previous winner of the Total Triumph Order of Merit and former European Tour player made four birdies but dropped a shot on the last hole to miss out on an outright victory.

Langdon won five times last year and his first win this season was achieved with 15 pars, two a bogey at the tough 14th hole.

Home man Giuseppe Licata tied for third with Cirencester’s Ed Goodwin on 72, making five birdies to Goodwin’s four.

Worlebury’s George Ryall was fifth on 73 to take the OOM lead from David Dixon (Enmore Park) who made late errors.
