Southern Swing through Swinley

Notching up a clear win and a close run second spot, Guy Woodman (ProAgenda.com) came out on top of the PGA South Winter Series with Titleist & FootJoy in a trio of tournaments at Swinley Forest and The Berkshire.

The three-day swing saw 174 PGA Professionals and Assistants play the two Top 100 Berkshire gems in dry and chilly sunshine.

On the first day at Swinley Forest, there was a four-way tie on a level par 36 points involving Warren Harmston (Sunningdale Heath), Michael Bullen (Rustington Golf Centre), Alistair MacGregor (Addington Court) and David Copsey (DCGS Poult Wood). While splitting the pot meant each took home £237 and a delighted Bullen took home the sponsors ball, glove and shoe contract as the leading Trainee.

Day two saw a switch to down the road to The Berkshire’s Red course, with Guy Woodman (ProAgenda.com) showed his winning prowess with six birdies and an eagle for a flawless 64 to amass 44 points and a cool £500.  He finished three ahead of runners up Chris Rodgers (Richings Park) and Max Brackley (Manston Golf Centre).  Harry Worner (Ham Manor) had 40 points for a tie in fourth but more importantly collected the Titleist balls and FootJoy gloves and shoes for the season ahead.

A different field assembled at Swinley Forest for the final day, Woodman was pipped by a point to the winner’s post by Alex Lodge (Calcot Park) with 38 points and the winner’s cheque for £333. This time Jordan Miles (Ben Blackburn Golf) was the happy recipient of the Trainee’s prize.

The next leg of the PGA South Winter Series is at The London Club’s Heritage course on 4 March but the traditional winter finale at Farnham for the Assistants & Trainees BetterBall Pro-Am.
