James Scade and Jason Levermore both shot four-under par 68s to share the spoils in the Links Pro-Am at Newmarket.

The pair, who are based at Little Channels Golf Centre, have been in outstanding form this season.

For Scade, this was his fifth win on the East region schedule and Levermore, too, has been on song of late, triumphing at Manor of Groves last month before striking again on his latest start.

They were on different sides of the draw at Newmarket with Scade out early to record his score. Off from the 11th tee, the 27-year-old was level par for eight holes before a fine scoring spree. Having birdied the first – his ninth – he then picked up further gains at three straight holes from the fourth.

Levermore, 38, started in immaculate fashion with an eagle at the par-5 first. He was three-under through four but had to wait until rolling home a birdie putt on the 18th green to tie at the top with Scade.

Ian Campbell (Cheshunt Park) made seven birdies in his two-under 70, tying for third place with Charlie Luther (Hertfordshire Golf and Country Club) and Darren Charlton (Dunstable Downs).

Mark Wharton led the winning team on 18-under, three clear of Levermore’s quartet.
