In a fitting climax to the PGA South’s Winter Series, Langley Park’s Tom Jordan eagled the 18th at Farnham to finish with 40 points to win the Titleist & FootJoy Assistants & Trainees BetterBall Pro-Am.

But with another solid performance, West Hove’s Peter Tarver-Jones stayed ahead of all the other Assistants to claim the overall victory in the PGA South Winter Series with Titleist & FootJoy 2018-2019. Tarver-Jones takes home the much prized Battle Bowl along with a custom fit Titleist 918 Driver, a pair of FootJoy MyJoy shoes and a £250 bonus.

Jordan’s stunning eagle finish meant he broke out of the leading pack to claim the £444 winner’s cheque and outright victory, finishing two strokes ahead James Ford (Robert Rock Academy), Jonathan Ingram (Royal Ashdown Forest), Michael Bullen (Rustington Golf Centre) and Billy Hemstock (Roehampton), each of whom went home nearly £250 better off.

In the team event, Ford and his amateur partner Callum Doswell came out on top with 45 points, one ahead of the pairs of Ryan Boyns (Weald of Kent)/Peter Popluhar, and Adam Reid (Corhampton)/Brent Lund.

The PGA in England (South) Regional Manager Sam Smith said: “Thanks once again to the support we’ve enjoyed from Titleist & FootJoy, our 2018-2019 Winter Series has been another great success. We had nearly 600 players in the nine events, all with full fields, and it’s great that we are able to offer playing opportunities at some of the region’s finest courses.”

Smith summarised: “Titleist & FootJoy are great supporters of The PGA and the PGA Professional and we look forward to working with them all through the coming season.”
