Thompson claims top title

Benjamin Thompson showed a clean pair of heel as he romped to victory in the PGA North Assistants’ Championship at Swinton Park.
The Hazel Grove man racked up six birdies and he posted a fine four-under-par 69.
Trailing in his wake were Heswall’s Jason Dransfield and Poulton Park’s Alex Pritchard who signed for 71s, two off the pace.
Leigh’s Sean Blinkhorn was third on 72.
