Trio take route 66 at East Herts

James Webber (Three Rivers G&CC), James Scade (Little Channels Golf Centre) and Sam Jones (Sundridge Park) tied at the top after firing respective rounds of 66.

The trio, all afternoon starters, shot five-under-par to finish a stroke ahead of Jason Levermore (Little Channels Golf Centre).

Webber started like a train picking up a stroke at each of the first three holes. He made four birdies, countered by a pair of bogeys.

Scade began much slower and was one-over after four. But that was his only dropped shot as he climbed to five-under.

He wasn’t able to capitalise on the par-5 17th and had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Jones teed off at the tenth and notched an eagle in turning at three-under. He kept pushing down the stretch and moved alongside Webber and Scade with a late birdie – at his 17th.

Home PGA professional Dan Field (East Herts) led the winning pro-am team on a total of 124 – one clear at the top.
