Woodman And Golding Split Cowdray Park Pot

ProAgenda.com’s Guy Woodman and Kingswood’s Ian Golding enjoyed the magnificent views of the Sussex Downs more than most when they tied for victory in the Cowdray Park Pro-Am.

In Sussex’s biggest Pro-Am, the leading duo shot three-under-par 67’s to edge out the new PGA Southern Open champion Chris Rodgers (Richings Park) by one stroke, and recent winner Jordan Godwin (Barnehurst) by two.

Commenting afterwards, Woodman said: “This is a fabulous place to play golf, but the views for Ian and I were that much sweeter today!” Golding agreed, adding: “Having shared the recent win at West Hill with two other players, at least this time I’m down to sharing it with just one!”

Starting at the third in a shotgun start, Woodman was three-under after four when disaster struck and he walked off the par five eighth with a double bogey seven. But with four wins under his belt, two of them in the last 10 days, Woodman stuck to his task with a deuce at the 17th and another birdie at his final hole, the second, to card his 67.

Starting at the fifth, Golding opened with a birdie and made two more to reach three-under after five. He bounced back from a bogey at the 10th with a birdie on the 11th, and repeated the trick twice more after bogeying the 15th and the 17th, parring his way home for his 67.

Golding’s day was made even sweeter when he inspired his three Cowdray Park members to a 15 under-par victory in the team event, beating Sam Passmore’s group in a countback.
