A South Korean-born housewife from Esher will be among the competitors at the WPGA Lombard Trophy qualifying round at Camberley Heath Golf Club.

Youngsoon Park will be partnering Lucinda Davies of Burhill Golf Club in Surrey for the event which is being held on June 11.

The pair are aiming to seal a trip to Portugal for the £7,800, Coca-Cola and Pestana Resorts supported, National Pro-Am grand final which will be played at the Vila Sol resort in the Algarve between September 20-21.

And it is an event that suits Youngsoon who has only been at Burhill for a year.

“I have lived in England since 2000 and have been playing golf for nine years. But I moved to Burhill for the bigger ladies section and bigger competition,” said the 13-handicapper.

“I never play in this format with a professional so I’m very much looking forward to this event.

“I like nature, gardening and swimming so I liked to pursue golf for the same reasons.”

The event has attracted some experienced players including former European Tour played Alison Nicholas who will be partnered by Beau Desert Golf Club’s Pam Bailey.

But the Cambereley Heath event also features last year’s champion and runner-up.

Kym Larratt, of Kibworth Golf Club in Leicestershire, won the event last year and will be trying to qualify again with amateur partner Corinne Boyd.

Dickens, of Peterborough’s Thorpe Wood Golf Course, was second to Larratt and plays this time alongside Suzanne Jones.
