Dan Wood (centre) capped a week to remember by following up a successful defence of the Cantrell Cup with victory in the final of the PGA in Nothamptonshire Matchplay.
The Cantrell Cup is a testing two round event - 18 holes better ball followed by a round of foursomes – and once again Wood was partnered by England Boys International Ben Jones.
The pair opened up with a five-under par round of 67 before posting an even better eight-under par 64 to finish two shots clear of Dan Ashcroft (American Golf Kettering) and Fraser Carnihan.
Wood also defeated Ashcroft in the second round of the PGA in Northampton Matchplay and then accounted for Mike Gallagher (Farthingstone Hotel & Golf) and Rodney Holt (Silverstone Golf Club).
The 3&2 victory over Holt earned the pro from Golfers Choice a place in the final against Kettering Golf Club’s Michael Campbell at Northants County.
And Wood looked nailed on for victory when he was three up with four to play but Campbell hit back by winning the 15th and 16th to trim the deficit to one.
Wood then missed a six-foot putt on the penultimate hole to clinch victory but made amends with a flop shot that landed the ball two feet from the pin at the 18th to set up a birdie that sealed a two-shot victory.
