The PGA’s recently-appointed Business Relationship Officer for the Midlands, Sam Carr, was among the speakers at the first coaching conference staged by the Shropshire & Herefordshire PGA.
The event, held at Ludlow Golf Club, also featured presentations by Steve Astle, an Advanced PGA Professional based at the East Midlands Golf Academy, and Mark Romasiuk from England Golf.
Astle presented some practical and easily workable formulas for developing coaching programmes that, as he proved, lead to increased customer numbers and income streams. In addition, they offer coaches more opportunity to balance a lifestyle of work, family and social commitments.
Carr, meanwhile, gave some excellent insights and reminders as to how The PGA helps professionals understand and deliver successful coaching practices.
And Romasiuk outlined how England Golf, The Golf Foundation and the County Development Group (CDG) will be supporting county golf, golf clubs and coaches over the coming year.
Keith Williams, S&H PGA chairman (right), thanked Peter Turner (CDG) for his funding support for the day and asked his fellow professionals to try to support the County PGA’s initiatives and to offer suggestions whenever they could.
Commenting on the event, he added: “We received valuable insights and information from all three speakers and there was tremendous energy and enthusiasm from the attendees through the afternoon.”
