Oswestry Golf Club Assistant Gareth Evans took full advantage of the Shropshire and Herefordshire PGA Championship being staged at his home club by winning it.
The 23-year-old from Welshpool posted a two-under-par round of 68 to finish five shots clear of runners up, Shrewsbury Golf Club's John Richards and Owen Evans from Shrewsbury Driving Range.
Evans (above, right) studied golf in the USA and played on the EuroPro Tour before beginning his PGA training under head pro Richard Edwards at his boyhood club earlier this year.
"He's a good asset to Shropshire golf," said Keith Williams (above, left), the county's PGA chairman who finished fifth in the 14-strong field.
"He and Trey Niven come with pedigree from the amateur ranks. In the past we've had players like Sandy Lyle and Ian Woosnam.
"Gareth may follow in their footsteps or take inspiration from Woosie as he is from the same club."
