Just champion: Lee Brotherhood (left) with PGA in Worcestershire captain Adam Whiting
Lee Brotherhood’s winning score of 68 in the 2019 PGA in Worcestershire Strokeplay Championship was just eight more than the number of years that have passed since Nick Underwood first played in the event!
Underwood, head PGA Professional at Kidderminster Golf Club for 32 years until his retirement in 2004, made his first appearance in the tournament as a 17-year-old when it was contested at Moseley Golf Club in 1959.
Happy return: Nick Underwood (back row, first on the left) with fellow competitors in the 2019 PGA in Worcestershire Strokeplay Championship at Kidderminster Golf Club
Fast forward six decades and Underwood was back in action at Kidderminster Golf Club, his round of 82 coming within four shots of matching his age!
Meanwhile, Hollywood Golf Club’s Brotherhood recorded five birdies and one bogey, at the par-four 16th, in compiling his four-under-par round that left him three shots clear of Josh Thorpe, the runner up.
