Two PGA professionals are swinging into action to give visually impaired people in Wyre Forest the chance to have a go at golf.
Churchill & Blakedown Golf Club PGA professionals Angus Hoare and Phil Lathwood are running a series of coaching courses throughout January, February, March and April.
The pros have been inspired by blind golfer Nick Mills who along with his guide-dog Percy (pictured right with Angus Hoare) is a popular figure at Churchill & Blakedown and has proved more than adept with a club in his hand.
“We’ve had some general interest through Nick’s involvement at the club and decided it was a great opportunity to try and get more people involved,” said Hoare.
“Nick is a regular here at and gets a huge amount of enjoyment out of golf. Like any golfer, when you hit a ball well, it is a great feeling as Nick will testify and we hope we can encourage more visually impaired people to tee it up.
“If anyone is interested or knows anyone who might be interested they are more than welcome to come along. There are many visually impaired people who get a huge amount out of golf and we would to encourage more to have a go here at Churchill & Blakedown.”
The coaching programme starts on January 27 with the remaining dates February 10, February 24, March 10 and April 14 - all starting at 11.45am.
