Ben Hall’s home course may be in Nottinghamshire but he is clearly at home in the West Midlands at Wishaw Golf Club.
Having won the PGA Midlands Trainees Strokeplay #1 at the venue last year, Hall, who represents Rushcliffe Golf Club, followed suit 12 months later.
And this time the display that earned him the £250 first prize was even more impressive than its predecessor.
Six-under-par for a score of 134 following two negotiations of the course last year, Hall improved on that to nine-under thanks to rounds of 66 and 65.
Moreover, his margin of victory was even more emphatic. This time he finished five shots clear of runner up Ben Jenks compared to the one-shot advantage he had over Copt Heath’s Michael Bayliss in 2018.
Jenks, who represents Burton on Trent Golf Club, posted successive two-under-par rounds of 68 for a combined score of 136 to finish two shots clear of Chris Rippon, the only other player in the 27-strong field to break par.
