Cort maintains the winning habit

Matt Cort Hollywood

Matt Cort maintained his fine form in advance of his forthcoming participation in the BMW PGA Championship and PGA Cup in the Hollywood Golf Club Pro-Am.

The PGA pro from Beedles Lake Golf Club, Leicestershire, went into the back of the event buoyed by victory in the Leek Golf Club Pro-Am.

And he followed up by winning at Hollywood thanks to a bogey-free six-under-par round of 66 that earned him the £710 winner’s cheque.

All of which meant that, once again, De Vere Staverton Estate’s Simon Lilly had to settle for second place.

Lilly, who shared the runner’s up berth with Richard O’Hanlon at Leek, had it to himself at Hollywood after finishing a shot behind Cort.

He also posted a bogey-free round to finish two shots clear of Oakmere Park Golf Club’s Andrew Willey.

Meanwhile, Kingswinford Golf Centre’s Darren Prosser led his trio of amateurs to victory in the team event with a 17-under-par total of 127.
