Teamwork Trophy 2019

Shirley Park’s club manager, Steve Murphy, and PGA Professional, Mark Brailey, put on a terrific team display at Woodcote Park to win the Teamwork Trophy in this year’s Club Manager & PGA Professional Challenge, supported by Open Solutions.

Playing in gloriously sunny weather, 28 teams of managers and PGA Professionals competed at Woodcote Park Golf Club in a Fourball BetterBall format. Murphy and Brailey outshone the opposition with a stunning score of seven-under-par 65, two shots better than the 67 of their nearest rivals from West Hill, club manager Patrick Dawson and PGA Professional Guy Shoesmith.

Besides the rewards of taking time out to play together and with their peers, there was a generous prize table as well courtesy of Open Solutions and Woodcote Park Golf Club. The winning club manager and pro took home a case of wine and a cheque for £300 respectively, with second and third places being suitably rewarded in similar fashion. Three nearest the pin winners took home bottles of champagne and a prize draw for the club managers earned the lucky ticket holder another case of wine.

Open Solutions CEO, Ed Beale, commented afterwards: “The Teamwork Trophy is going from strength to strength, and is testament to the ideas and hard work of Woodcote Park’s PGA Head Pro Wraith Grant and former club manager Adrian Dawson who started this initiative.”

Beale added: “The PGA in England (South) do a great job of organising the whole event and making sure it all runs very smoothly, and Woodcote Park led by its new general manager Jerry Kilby laid on a terrific day on and off the course. It’s obvious that everyone who came to compete had a great time, and I’m delighted to confirm we’ll not only continue to support this event, but with The PGA’s help, develop it around the other PGA regions as well.”
