Six of the best!

17 Jun 19

Adam Wootton Oxford Golf Centre

Six of the leading PGA names in the South, Adam Wootton (Oxford Golf Centre), Geoff Lee, Chris Rodgers (Richings Park), Andy Raitt (St. George’s Hill), Richard Wallis (Canterbury), and Robert Daw (Effingham), each shot cards of four-under-par 68 to tie for victory at the Farnham Pro-Am.

Adam Wootton summed up his day on Twitter: ‘BOOM. Nice to get back into the winner’s circle. @farnhamgc was in great shape. Another awesome Pro Am run by @PGA South’.

Five of the six winners have enjoyed other victories this year. To notch up his 68, Wootton made four birdies and one eagle, offset by two bogeys for his third win of 2019. In more dramatic style, Lee made one bogey and five birdies including two at the 17th and 18th to squeak in down the stretch for his second win in 10 days.

Rodgers, who’s also a recent first time father, delivered five birdies including one at 18th and despite the one bogey, he notched up his second win in three weeks. Raitt’s round was a classic ‘game of two halves’, going out in level par and then producing a terrific back nine of four-under for his second win in 2019. The very next day Raitt went on to tie the top spot in the Surbiton Pro-Am as well.

Five time Virgin Atlantic PGA South Order of Merit winner Wallis had a similarly up and down time with five birdies, one eagle and three bogeys for his four-under back nine, but left things right to the last putt on the 18th to rack up his fourth win of the year to date.

Last but not least was Effingham’s Robert Daw with one of the least troublesome rounds: five birdies and just the one bogey, to celebrate his first win of the season.

Lee went on to pip his rivals overall by leading his group to victory in the team event as well, with -18 to edge out three other teams by a shot.
