Alex Rowland is relishing his role of PGA North captain. “It’s a great honour and I’m thrilled to bits,” enthused the Hawarden professional who revealed he is also club manager, secretary and even oversees the green staff!
“I’ve never looked back since I came here in 1997,” said Rowland, 46, who joined the PGA 28 years ago.
But he still finds time to play and is looking to fulfil his obligations as captain.
“The club are delighted and aware that I will be away quite a lot but they’re happy and proud that I have been asked to be North Region Captain.”
Rowland, who has three young boys, including nine-year-old twins, started his career as assistant to Alan Thompson at Heswall in 1988.
“I’ve been running my own pro-am at Hawarden for 10 years and we are hoping to get a few more on the Cheshire and North Wales circuit this season."
