PGA North has secured a new sponsorship deal, and access to PGA Member incentives, with Yorkshire-based MTS Nationwide to fund its Order of Merit to the tune of £17,500.
The company, which will review the offer year-on-year, is an approved Club Car dealer providing hire, sales and support services and they are trusted by more than 160 leading UK golf clubs and hotels including the home of golf St Andrews.
Club Car is the leading name in the manufacture of golf & utility vehicles with more than 60 years' experience.
The sponsorship will be launched at the Leeds Cup, professional golf's oldest trophy, which tees off with a pro-am on Monday May 15. That will be followed followed by the 36-hole tournament which see Phillip Archer (above) defending the trophy at the event’s spiritual home, Cobble Hall Golf Club.
Elliott Kirk, the company's marketing manager, said: "We are delighted to beworking with the PGA and sponsoring the Order of Merit. We have industry leading products supported by a great service team which keeps the clubs moving.
This is the first-time MTS has ventured into sponsorship on this scale and they hope it is the start of much longer relationship with the PGA. They have developed a bespoke campaign Pro-Active to run alongside the sponsorship.
The team recognise that PGA Members are continually looking for new ways to increase services to members and revenue-driven activities.
The campaign will provide access to packages to build a golf vehicle fleet to suit flexible models to hire and scale over time or buy with great finance packages. PGA Members will have access to new and refurbished vehicles to sell on to customers.
MTS are keen to share insight into value added services golf clubs can utilise to keep them ahead of the game, which embraces new technology they may not be familiar with, including Visage which provides tracking capabilities and insights into a player's game.
The MTS bespoke sponsorship signage will be on view at all the Order of Merit tournaments and they will showpiece some of their vehicles at several of the events with the full range on display at Carus Green in October, the final event of the season.
PGA North secretary Jonathan Paine said: "All this is great news not only to our professionals but golf clubs. It will help to grow the strength of MTS through having an association with us. It's certainly a step in the right direction. The final promises to be a great event where the top 30 professionals in the Order of Merit will be guaranteed a good prize."
