We are uncertain as to when the Alliance came into being but there are records in the Cornish Guardian office that the Alliance played a match at St Austell back in the early 1920’s so we will shortly be celebrating our centenary! (We are continuing to carry out further research to try to establish more accurate records).
The Alliance was formed when a Cornish Professional was given permission to invite a few of his professional colleagues to his club to enjoy a round of golf as a token of appreciation. It has grown over the years to its present format of 16 matches each season culminating in the Alliance Championships with a membership in excess of 150.
We are extremely grateful to all the clubs who invite us to hold our meetings at their club each year.
Do you know any other of these past Alliance players? If so, please let us know.
