Henbury assistant Luke Derrick won his first Gloucester and Somerset PGA medal at Cleeve Hill with his best-ever putting display, despite the windy conditions.
He made seven birdies in a one under par 70 which was matched by David Dixon (Enmore Park) and Ed Goodwin (Cirencester).
“I have made six birdies before but never seven,” said the 23-year-old second year trainee with Nick Riley who started his career at Tracy Park after leaving the amateur ranks at Filton.
“I putted as well as I have ever done and the score would have been even better but for a triple bogey seven on the third hole. I just missed the green to the left but we couldn’t find the ball in the long grass.”
Consistency helped Goodwin win for the first time this season. He made two birdies and dropped only one shot.
Dixon forget his putter so borrowed one from home pro David Finch. He used it to good effect with four birdies as he posted his second win of the winter season.
Martin Dewhurst claimed fourth on 72, one ahead of Lee Corfield (Burnham and Berrow). Andrew March (Brean), Ashley Mansell (Clevedon) and Daryl Kelley (Filton) followed on 74.
