David Dixon reprised the form that resulted in him winning the 2018 PGA Play-Offs with a dominant display in the Sherborne Golf Club Pro-Am.
The former European Tour player, who is attached to Enmore Park Golf Club, posted an eight-under-par round of 64 to win the event by three shots and claim the £800 first prize.
In doing so, he overcame an inauspicious start that saw him drop a shot on the first hole.
There were no errors thereafter, however. He made spectacular amends with four birdies in succession from the third to sixth holes and weighed in with two more to be five-under at the turn.
Ashley Wood Golf Club’s Paul Jones was only a shot behind Dixon at that stage but lost momentum on the back nine and had to settle for second place.
Three bogeys erased by an eagle at the par-four 17th and two birdies resulted in a five-under-par round of 67 that put him a shot clear of the trio that finished tied third – Ashley Mansell, James Ruth and Richard Dinsdale.
Dixon, by contrast, enjoyed a bogey-free passage home and posted three more birdies, including one at the par-four 18th.
His eight-under-par was also a key factor in him leading a trio of amateurs to victory in the team event. The quartet comprising Dixon, Tony and Mark Lawrence and Kevin Costigan amassed 96 Stableford points to finish three clear of the team led by Mansell.
