William Nolan Farley repelled the challenges of Michael Watson and Luke Derrick to win the Clevedon Golf Club Pro-Am.
The victory was the 25-year-old’s fourth of the season following wins in the Torquay Golf Club Pro-Am, the PGA in Devon 36-Hole Championships at the same venue, and the regional Birdietime PGA Assistants Championship qualifier at Bristol & Clifton Golf Club.
He won that one by a shot, which was the gap between him and his two closest pursuers at Clevedon thanks to a five-under-par round of 67.
Watson, who is attached to Wessex Golf Centre, was on course to eclipse that when he left the 12th hole on six-under. However, successive birdies at the par-four 15th and 16th holes derailed his challenge.
Henbury Golf Club’s Derrick, by contrast, left his bid for victory too late and finished tied second with Watson.
Having reached the turn a shot behind Watson and level with Nolan Farley on two-under, he lost ground with a dropped shot at the 11th before signing off with a trio of birdies in the final five holes.
Meanwhile, the team competition was won by Wheathill Golf Club’s Martin Liley and his trio of amateurs – Dan Fitzpatrick, Dugan Morris and John Turnbull – with a score of 88 Stableford points.
