Giuseppe Licata and his trio of amateurs won the PGA Benevolent Fund Pro-Am at Mendip Spring Golf Club but the biggest winner was the fund itself.
The pro-am, which was sponsored by Marston’s Beer Company and Total Triumph, raised more than £5,000 for the fund which supports PGA Members in hardship or distress.
Meanwhile out on the course, a blistering back nine from Filton Golf Club’s Licata plus Darren McGee, Nick Davies and Tim Parsons proved decisive.
Having reached the turn with 42 Stableford points, two and three adrift respectively of the teams led by Luke Collins and Michael Watson, the quartet turned up the heat on the way home.
They weighed in with 46 points for a total score of 88 points to finish two points clear of Collins in second place, three ahead of Watson and with five more than Toby Hunt’s team.
However, Hunt and his three amateurs – Ed Breton, Paul Gibson and Jean Horsford – won the Pink Ball competition with a score of 33.
