Liam Bond hit the jackpot for the second time in a month when he finished at the head of the 41-strong field in the Casino Tours Abroad Pro-Am at Ross on Wye Golf Club.

The victory maintained a purple patch for the Chepstow-based 49-year-old who runs the Liam Bond Golf Academy.

The hot streak began in the Radyr Golf Club Pro-Am and a second-place finish in the Clevedon Golf Club Pro-Am was bookended by the two victories.

Bond maintained that good form from the outset at Ross on Wye, starting his round with a birdie en route to reaching the turn in three-under-par.

China Fleet Golf and Country Club’s Joe Yorke was one-shot better off at that stage but lost momentum on the back nine.

As a result he posted a three-under-par round of 69 to share second place with St Mellons Golf Club’s Toby Hunt and Ryan Pope of Exeter Golf and Country Club.

Bond, meanwhile, recorded two more birdies on the way home and, although he bogeyed the final hole, his four-under-par round of 68 left him a shot clear of his challengers in the chase for the £975 winner’s cheque.

The team competition was won by William Nolan Farley and his trio of amateurs: Paul Vitale, Richard Chandler and Ashley Chandler with a score 0f 85 Stableford points.
