Calculators were needed to determine how the prize fund should be distributed after four players tied for first place in the Minchinhampton (New) Pro-Am.
The quartet comprising Sherborne Golf Club’s Jon Bevan (above), Paul Hendriksen of Ivybridge Golf Club, St Mellons Golf Club’s Toby Hunt and Scott Drummond each received £663.75 after posting four-under-par rounds of 67.
However, Martin Stimson of Glyn Abbey Golf Club looked best placed for victory when he reached the halfway stage on the Cherington Course at the Gloucestershire club in four-under.
That followed an eagle at the par-five ninth hole but his challenge was derailed by two bogeys on the back nine and he finished tied fifth following a three-under-par round of 67.
By contrast, Bevan, Hendriksen and Drummond all thrived after the turn. Bevan recorded three birdies in four holes; Hendriksen eagled the par-five 13th and added a birdie at 17; and Drummond, who was two-under at the turn doubled that by the end.
Hunt, meanwhile, continued his bogey-free round on the back nine after reaching the turn in three-under, adding a birdie at the par-four 14th.
The team competition was won on countback by Enmore Park Golf Club’s David Dixon and his trio of amateurs – Steve Roberts, Rob Price and Suzanne Roberts – with a score of 89 Stableford points.
