Patrons Club – a golf society with a difference

The chance to tee up alongside leading Tartan Tour players, sample Scotland’s finest courses and support the next generation of PGA professionals are among the incentives for joining The PGA in Scotland’s Patrons Club.

And with the Patrons schedule now confirmed for 2016, PGA in Scotland secretary Shona Malcolm is encouraging more golfers to join the club.

“Patrons are not only buying into a game they love, and with it an array of playing and hospitality opportunities, but just as importantly they are also supporting the next generation of Scottish PGA Professionals,” said Malcolm.

“Money raised by the Patrons is invested into developing the coaches and club professionals of the future, helping those aspiring to a career in Scotland, the Home of Golf, as expert PGA Professionals in all disciplines of the game.”

The annual fee for Patrons is £50 and each member will receive a Patrons Club Membership Card and access to a package of member benefits and discount offers. First year members will also receive a branded gift.

A series of Patrons’ events is scheduled every year, providing opportunities to play with PGA professionals, assistant professionals and guests at a variety of excellent Scottish courses.

The 2016 schedule of events kicks off in April at Drumoig Golf Club and also visits Cawder, Baberton, Rowallan Castle, Balbirnie Park, Alyth, Glenbervie & Strathaven. A match-play championship runs throughout the season.

Current members have paid testament to the Patrons Club:-

“This is a golf society with a difference – the only one whose aim is to support and nurture young golf professionals while at the same time enjoying some great courses”

“I’ve been a member of the Patrons Club for many years and, quite apart from enjoying the golf and the various courses we’ve played, you make many friends and I can recommend membership to any club golfer.”

The Secretary of the PGA in Scotland explained: “These are fun, sociable and friendly-competitive days and anyone is welcome to join the Patrons Club. It is a special golfing community and a great way to enjoy golf, meet new friends and play with some fantastic professional golfers.”
