Alison Gray capitalised on local knowledge by winning the second WPGA One-Day Series event of the season at Ormskirk, her home course.
Making light of the wet and chilly conditions, Gray posted a four-under-par round of 69 to claim the £350 first prize and 10 ranking points.
A bogey at the par-four first belied what was to follow, especially on the front nine. She made amends immediately with successive birdies, likewise after another bogey at the par-three fourth.
Gray then completed the front nine with three successive birdies to reach the turn in four-under, the score she signed for after a less spectacular back nine.
By contrast, Suzanne Dickens (right) blossomed on the back nine after making an inauspicious bogey, double bogey start.
Having reached the turn in two-over, Dickens, who is attached to Thorpe Wood Golf Course, Peterborough, recorded four birdies and a bogey on the way home to finish on one-over, a shot clear of Tavistock Golf Club’s Katie Rule.
Dickens earned six ranking points and lies second, half a point behind Hampstead Golf Club’s Marie Martindale who, after winning the first event at Little Aston to claim 10 points, picked up one for her fourth-place finish at Ormskirk
