The Belfry - A venue steeped in Ryder Cup and PGA history

The Belfry first hosted the Ryder Cup in 1985 and provided the ultimate test as Tony Jacklin led Europe to their first victory over the United States since 1957.

Four years later Jacklin captain Europe for a fourth and final time with the contest ending in a tie.

History was made in 1993 when The Belfry hosted the Ryder Cup for a third time with Tom Watson guiding the visitors to victory.

In 2001, the teams were once again at The Belfry for a record fourth time and Colin Montgomerie inspired Europe to a 15.5 - 11.5 victory, the largest margin since 1985.

As well as hosting four Ryder Cup matches, the PGA National course is fast becoming one of the top golf courses in the United Kingdom. Recognised by The PGA as a world-class tournament course, and the only PGA golf course in England, it is a must for golfers who enjoy the creativity required for links golf.
