The Professional Golfers’ Association is seeking two Assistant Accountants to provide support in key aspects of its Finance Department. One role is permanent with the second role being in a temporary capacity for, it is envisaged, up to 12 months duration.

The PGA is one of sports most recognisable and respected global organisations with over 8,000 members working in over 80 countries around the world. Based at PGA National Headquarters, Centenary House, The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield, the Assistant Accountants will be part of the Finance Department reporting directly to the Head of Finance, supporting the Finance Team and wider organization to ensure delivery and alignment with The PGA Vision and Strategy.

Assisting with the production of The PGA group statutory accounts and management accounts for all departments, supporting the Senior Management Accountant, Management Accountant and Head of Finance principal areas of responsibility will include:

  • Production of quarterly/monthly Income and Expenditure accounts
  • Production of forecast updates and supporting information
  • Production of annual budgets and supporting information
  • Assisting with maintaining the fixed asset register and reconciliation of capital expenditure
  • Assisting with the production of statutory financial statements for PGA Group, company and subsidiary companies
  • Assisting with the timely preparation of Audit Stat Pack / supporting information
  • Assisting with company investment analysis
  • Assisting with treasury/cash management/banking reports
  • Reconciliation and production of financial control accounts
  • Researching and resolving discrepancies

The ideal candidate will have previously worked in a small finance team (sports industry or within a Membership Association would be beneficial) and will be working towards/part qualified AAT, ACCA or CIMA or qualified by experience. Experience of producing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations is a role requirement as well as experience of budgeting and forecasting processes. Being familiar with Dynamics 365 Business Central is desirable.

Planning and prioritising workloads, good data analysis skills, highly numerate and accurate with excellent attention to detail and good task management skills with the ability to work to deadlines are amongst the key competences needed to succeed in this role.

The successful candidate will have a flexible approach, be an analytical team player, good communicator whilst maintaining discretion and confidentiality.

Core working hours for both roles are from 9 am until 5 pm Monday to Friday with one hour lunch (35 hours per week) but some flexibility will be required around core hours during busy periods. Both roles are based from the office but are eligible to join our hybrid working trial.
