The Professional Golfers’ Association is seeking a skilled and experienced Manager to drive its Media activities

Established in 1901, the PGA’s mission is to improve the personal and professional lives of its Members. To effectively deliver its strategic objectives, The PGA is seeking to recruit a Head of Communications, based at PGA National Headquarters, The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield.

The Role:
Reporting to the Executive Director – Business Development, the Head of Communications will:

  • Enhance the reputation and favourability of The PGA through effectively and proactively delivering our communications/media strategy, maximizing the awareness of the role that The PGA plays and the value of services and influence it provides.
  • Ensure the provision of a high level of media support across the organisation. Working collaboratively to lead, develop and execute creative campaigns for multiple audiences, promoting the brand, PGA activities and PGA Members whilst keeping all areas connected and aligned with strategic goals.
  • Create and develop multi-channel marketing campaigns to promote the Association’s key initiatives and drive action and engagements to target audiences.
  • Support the Executive Director – Business Development to implement a fully integrated digital consumer platform that meets the expectations of today’s consumer and provides a holistic, quality PGA consumer experience, establishing positive connections with Members and the rest of the industry, producing high levels of customer satisfaction and engagement.
  • Have overall responsibility for all functions of the Media Team promoting working cohesively and maintaining effective and productive relationships internally and externally.

Role Requirements:
Having experience in communications, B2B and consumer marketing whilst holding a similar senior management role, the ideal candidate will have strong project management skills with the ability to deliver on time and within budget whilst handling multiple projects. Experienced in the full range of marketing and communication channels including PR, digital, social, print, creative services and data analytics; being an expert copywriter with superlative writing, editing and presentation skills; having demonstrable experience of successfully building data driven marketing campaigns and executing via of a range of social communications is essential.

Being an excellent communicator with highly developed teamwork skills; demonstrating analytical and critical thinking skills; and evidencing creative flair are amongst the key competences to succeed in this role. Understanding the needs and demands of The PGA, PGA Members and the golf industry, with a good knowledge of golf bodies, the golf landscape and tournament delivery is paramount.

As well as being commercially and financially astute, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate confidence, experience and influence at management level and will be an effective people manager.
