The Professional Golfers’ Association is seeking a qualified and experienced Manager to drive its Media activities

Established in 1901, The PGA’s mission is to improve the personal and professional lives of its Members through its strategic principles of providing world class services, influencing and delivering through its Members and delivering exceptional prestige standards.  To effectively support its strategic delivery objectives, The PGA is seeking to recruit a Head of Communications, based at PGA National Headquarters, The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield.

Reporting to the Executive Director – Business Development, the Head of Communications will: 

  • Enhance the reputation and favourability of The PGA (internally and externally across the industry) through effectively and pro-actively delivering our communications strategy, maximizing the awareness of the role that The PGA plays and the value of services and influence it provides;
  • Supporting the Executive Director – Business Development to implement a fully integrated digital consumer platform that meets the expectations of today’s consumer and provides a holistic, quality PGA consumer journey, establishing positive connections with Members and the rest of the industry, transcending into high levels of customer satisfaction and engagement;
  • Ensure a high level of media support is provided across the organisation;
  • Be responsible for delivering the digital and communications elements of the PGA Business Plan; and
  • Have overall responsibility for all functions of the Media Team promoting cohesive working and maintaining effective and productive relationships internally and externally.

Having experience in both B2B and consumer marketing whilst holding a similar management role, the ideal candidate will have strong project management skills with the ability to deliver on time and within budget whilst handling multiple projects.  Being an expert copy-writer with superlative writing, editing and presentation skills; clear experience of building and delivering data-driven marketing campaigns; as well as having a good knowledge of web analytics which have been influenced by the successfully execution of a range of social communications is essential.

Being an excellent communicator with highly developed teamwork skills; demonstrating analytical and critical thinking skills; and evidencing creative flair are amongst the key competences to succeed in this role.  Understanding the needs and demands of The PGA, PGA Members and the golf industry, with a good knowledge of golf bodies, golf operations and tournament delivery is paramount.

As well as being commercially and financially astute, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate confidence, experience and influence at management level and will be an effective people manager.

This is a permanent, full-time role working around the core hours of the business (9am until 5pm, Monday to Friday).  Travelling and occasional weekend and/or bank holiday working however are essential to fulfil this role.
