The Role:
This is a key senior role (member and public facing), providing opportunities to represent The PGA at some of the most prestigious golf events. Leading tournament operations and all associated activity to ensure the highest standards are maintained, being responsible for the delivery of Rules Education to PGA Staff and PGA Members as well as managing the PGA Rules Panel, tournament staff, and tournament finances. The role includes overall responsibility for:

  • Managing relationships with associated Bodies in the tournament operations sector of the Industry
  • The structure and management of tournaments including: Scheduling tournament activity, 3 years in advance, to ensure quality, efficiency and equity of access; Delivering multiple tournaments including The PGA Cup and PGA Seniors Championship; National and County tournament activity
  • Companywide standards, policies and procedures for tournament operations including: Organising and delivering the annual Tournament Staff Conference; Operation, implementation and administration of PGA Tournament Regulations; Ensuring the implementation of Health & Safety measures; Development of operating systems and managing and developing staff
  • Upon invitation acting as primary Rules Official internationally

Role Requirements: Education/Qualifications/Key Competences/Personal Profile:

  • Proven experience in successfully running multiple high profile golf tournaments
  • Expert knowledge of the game and structure of golf including the internal structure of Professional Tours
  • Passed PGA and R&A Rules Exams
  • Experienced in successfully leading a key business function and extensive experience in managing and developing people
  • Strong, established network within golf
  • Credible, organised, demonstrates confidence, having presence and stature whilst being a confident public speaker
  • Extensive experience in planning and prioritising against multiple, strict and often distant deadlines
  • Highly motivated to continuously improve standards and methods of working

Being able to travel nationally and internationally whilst spending long periods of time away from home is a must.
