The Foundation Degree (FdSc) and Diploma in Higher education (DipHe) are at the core of the PGA Training programme. These courses are developed and validated in partnership with the University of Birmingham (FdSc) and University of the Highlands and Islands (DipHe). The PGA is keen to review the availability and suitability of external tutors and external markers within the field of sports science.

Tutor delivery
As part of the FdSc and DipHe programmes within the PGA Training Programme, over 800 students attend our residential sessions each year at the PGA National Training Academy. Lectures are prepared by the module leader (Dr Jack Wells) and delivered by external tutors. There are three years of delivery which cover the following topics:
Year 1: Significance of warm-ups for golf and Junior Development
Year 2: Psychology
Year 3: Biomechanics and Movement assessment

Marking
Over 1500 pieces of work are marked and moderated each year. Assignments are written by the module leader and approved by the External Examiner in order to assess PGA Trainee’ knowledge of sports science related topics. The initial first marking is carried out by an external group of sport science subject specialists and then internally moderated by the module lead.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved as an external consultant* in a world leading education programme. The Academic year runs from October to September, with tutor delivery and assessment marking at various times throughout. If this is something that may interest you, please send a cover letter and CV to Dr Jack Wells at training@pga.org.uk. Please highlight if you are interested in marking and/or tutoring and your specialist area(s).

* Status as a consultant will be determined via completion and submission of a status determination questionnaire for IR35 legislation purposes
