Dixon at the double

09/11/2019

David Dixon recorded back-to-back victories by winning the Minchinhampton Ladies Pro-Am for the second year running just 24 hours after his success in the Gloucester & Somerset PGA Medal at Stinchcombe Hill.

Using the women’s par for scoring purposes, the Enmore Park pro posted a round of 64 to finish two shots clear of the host club’s Stuart Little. Broadway Golf Club’s Russ Berry was a shot further back in third place.

Meanwhile, Cirencester Golf Club, led by Ed Goodwin, won the team event for the second year in succession. Goodwin and his trio of members - Jess Brown, Deb Organ and Sam Mitchell – racked up 90 Stableford points to finish at the head of the 18-strong field.

That left them two points ahead of the Enmore Park quartet of Dixon, Suzanne Roberts, Sally Bruce and Jan McPherson, and three clear of Minchinhampton’s Little, Sally Reay, Margaret Fischer and Cherry Steadman.

Once again the Avening layout was in excellent condition and the event deemed a success for both parties - the club and the Gloucester and Somerset PGA. As a result discussions have been opened to settle on a date for next year.
