Golfplan Insurance sponsor PGA Pro-Captain

07/01/2013

Golfplan International Golf Insurance is set to further raise its profile by sponsoring one of The PGA's most prestigious tournaments.

The leading golf insurance provider has signed a three year agreement to become title sponsor of the popular PGA Pro-Captain Challenge which each year attracts entries from more than 500 UK clubs. This pro-am tournament will include ten regional finals and a £25,000 grand final set to be staged overseas.

Golfplan, which offers comprehensive cover across a range of golf-related liabilities, has built a strong reputation among golfers and is aiming to further enhance its reputation for delivering comprehensive golf coverage combined with strong customer service by forging closer ties with PGA professionals and golf club members.

Golfplan is now owned by Canopius, one of the top-ten Lloyd's insurers, which underwrites a broad range of insurance products including specialist personal lines insurance. Golfplan offers unrivalled cover with benefits including 'new for old' replacement of equipment; cover for golf club membership fees while injured or ill; 24-hour cover for theft of equipment from cars; and personal liability cover of £5 million.

As part of the sponsorship, Golfplan recognises the role and importance of PGA professionals (with its claims process stipulating that lost equipment be replaced through this source) and will explore further opportunities that make the PGA professional integral to its long term aims.

Douglas Young, managing director of Golfplan Insurance, said: "We are delighted to be the new sponsors of the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge.

"With the backing and financial strength of our parent company, Canopius, we are firmly committed to growing the Golfplan brand. This sponsorship is an ideal step in establishing closer relationships with golf professionals and club members to ensure that our superior insurance products are readily available to match our golfing customers' needs."

PGA chief executive Sandy Jones commented: "It was with great delight that I met with Golfplan and listened to their intentions to support our
PGA members in their everyday business which in today's economic world is much-needed and very welcome.

"They further demonstrated their commitment to the game at club and professional level by agreeing to become the new sponsor of the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge which is one of our best events, bringing together our members and the clubs at which they are engaged.

"Golfplan is a very welcome addition to our family of sponsors and we look forward to a successful relationship."
