Andrew George (pictured) of Ely City and Daniel Poulter of Kartel Golf shared the honours in the West Essex Pro-Am.

Both signed for rounds of three-under-par 68 beating Mitch Kierstenson of Penfold Park into third place by one shot.

George, who has been at Ely City Golf Club since 1980 and qualified four years later, played in the 1998 PGA Cup against the Americans in Denver, Colorado. He has been both on the Challenge Tour and the Australian Tour, the latter between 1988 and 1993.

Poulter, elder brother of Ryder Cup star Ian, is currently in good form having won the pro-am at Knebworth last month.

Reece Phillips, a West Essex amateur, Jason Levermore (Channels) and Chris Cutchie (Colchester) were tied fourth at one-under-par.

Daniel Hill, assistant at West Essex, brought home the winning team of three ladies, Ashleigh Greenham, Megan Jenkins and Lizzie Taylor with a score of 15-under-par 127. Cutchie, John Cowley, Patsy Judd and James Brown were runners-up with 13-under-par. Third place went to Murray White (Penfold Park), Terry Haines, Dennis Swain and Ken Lee on count back from teams with Daniel Coughlan (Wyke Green) and Thomas Phillips (Hadley Wood). All three teams finished with 10-under-par 132.
