About the Championship

The PGA Pro-Captain Challenge creates a great spirit between the Captain and the PGA Professional and has being doing so since the tournament’s inception.

Traditionally the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge has always been one of the most popular dates on the calendar and a close inspection of its history reveals why.

In the early years, back in the 90's, the event enjoyed close ties with Wentworth when finalists would arrive to see the last day of the PGA Championship before next day contesting their own final over the same tees and flags as played by Europe's best players.

The PGA Pro-Captain Challenge stayed at Wentworth for six years and has been played in Bahrain, Turkey, Spain and Morocco.

2020 is the 23rd staging of the event in which pairs comprising a PGA Professional and Club Captain will aim to book their place in this year’s final hosted by PGA National - Italy, Argentario Golf Resort & Spa.

The SkyCaddie PGA Pro-Captain Challenge heads back to Italy in 2020 where finalists will be able to experience luxury in a unique way at the Argentario Golf Resort & Spa which has recently joined the prestigious group of PGA Branded Properties as the PGA National - Italy.

The five-star resort is widely-regarded as one of the finest golf destinations in Tuscany, with the visually striking 18-hole Argentario course, designed by renowned architect David Mezzacane, taking in spectacular views across the valley to the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Orbetello lagoon and the hills of Maremma.

The course has been awarded the “Agri Cert” certification for its bio eco-compatibility, and all products used for its maintenance are completely natural. It is located in a protected natural area, only five minutes from the Duna Feniglia Nature Reserve and 25km from the Parco dell’Uccellina Reserve.

The Orbetello Lagoon, the sea and the hillside offer a beautiful panorama and create a microclimate that allows golf to be played at any time of the year.
