About the Championship

The PGA Pro-Captain Challenge creates a great spirit between the Captain and the PGA Professional and has being doing so since the tournament’s inception.

Traditionally the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge has always been one of the most popular dates on the calendar and a close inspection of its history reveals why.

In the early years, back in the 90's, the event enjoyed close ties with Wentworth when finalists would arrive to see the last day of the PGA Championship before next day contesting their own final over the same tees and flags as played by Europe's best players.

The PGA Pro-Captain Challenge stayed at Wentworth for six years and has been played in Bahrain, Turkey, Spain and Morocco.

2020 is the 23rd staging of the event in which pairs comprising a PGA Professional and Club Captain will aim to book their place in this year’s final hosted by The Belfry Hotel & Resort

The Belfry Hotel & Resort

The Belfry Hotel & Resort

The SkyCaddie PGA Pro-Captain Challenge is heading to four-time Ryder Cup venue The Belfry which is widely regarded as one of the top golfing destinations in the UK. The award-winning resort is surrounded by 550 acres of countryside, with sumptuous bedrooms and suites that ooze comfort and style, where iconic greens are steeped in golfing history.

The championship will be played across both the PGA National and Brabazon courses. The majestic fairways and carpet-smooth greens of The Brabazon form a world-famous stage on which some of golf’s most exhilarating dramas have played out. Grand Finalists will be able to walk in the footsteps of golfing legends – Seve’s historic drive onto the 10th green, Sam Torrance’s famous putt that won the 1985 Ryder Cup match for the European Team or Christie O’Connor Jr’s belligerent 2 iron across the lake at the 18th.

With its inland links appearance, the PGA National championship course presents a unique challenge with fast running fairways, undulating greens, severe run-offs and its 70 strategically placed cavernous bunkers. Hosting two European Tour golf events, the PGA National is fast becoming one of the top golf courses in the United Kingdom.
