Adcock on top at Tandridge

Todd Adcock (Cherry Lodge) notched up his first PGA South Pro-Am win, shooting a three-under-par for 39 points to win the Tandridge Pro-Am, supported by Dawson’s Auctioneers & Valuers, and collect the £1,250 first prize.

Adcock edged his nearest rivals Matt Ford (CK Group), Lee Heaton and David Copsey (DCGS Poult Wood) into second place.

He commented: “While I haven’t played that often this year, my 2019 season opened quite promisingly but turned into a series of disappointing results. Then a week ago I played nicely at West Sussex in the Assistants & Trainees Match Play Finals Day, only to save my best result of the season for today. It’s certainly boosted my confidence and given me lots to look forward to for the 2020 schedule.”

Starting on the 17th, Adcock doubled the 18th and went birdie, bogey, birdie to be one-over. He bounced back from a bogey at the seventh with another birdie at the eight, and with one more at the ninth he was back to level par.

Then a birdie on the 11th was followed by an eagle on the 12th to put Adcock on three-under and a smooth run of pars all the way home took him into pole position on the leaderboard.

In the Surrey PGA Professionals event, Copsey cleaned up with his 38 points, finishing two ahead of local hero Louis Savill (Tandridge) and hot from his two latest wins, Nico Els (Professional Golf Breaks Tuition).

Evergreen Guy Woodman (ProAgenda.com) led his three amateurs to a convincing victory in the team event to push the teams led by Elliot Owens (Hever Castle), Shannon Flynn Hanly (Silvermere) and Daisy Macve (Pachesham) into the minor placings from the 46 teams.
