Graeme Bell birdied the last two holes at Formby Hall to share the spoils with Jon Bevan on the final day of the inaugural England's Golf Coast Pro-am.

The Eaglescliffe man posted 72 in the first round at Royal Birkdale then repeated the score in the next at Formby to trail two strokes behind overnight leader Gareth Jones.

But the Sandiway professional signed off with an 81 to fall out of contention as Bevan, from Rhos on Sea, leapfrogged up the field to hand  in a joint best-of-tournament three-under-par 69, which featured five birdies.

He and Bell were the only players to finish in the red on minus one overall and three ahead of the chasing group.

Windermere's Simon Edwards and Disley assistant Scot Jackson, tied third.
