Cipa’s birdie run brings its rewards

Steven Cipa of South Essex Golf Centre, who plays on the PGA European Senior Tour, enjoyed a successful day at the PGA East Anglian Open Pro-Am at The Rayleigh Club with around of three-under-par 70.

Cipa also led the winning pro-am team of Tony Brown, Jason Moody and Martin Stone with a score of 16-under-par 130. Cipa had six birdies between the ninth and 17th holes.

Individual runner-up was the consistent Daniel Coughlan of Wyke Green who was one shot behind and included five birdies in his round. Four players signed for one-under-par 72. They were Mark Hooper (Rayleigh Golf Range), winner of this year’s Virgin Atlantic East Order of Merit, Jason Levermore of Channels Golf Club who is runner-up in the OOM, together with Mark Baker (Colchester) and James Taverner (Brocket Hall).

Hooper, club proprietor Jamie Saitch, Greg Vassallo and Roy Carter were runners-up in the team event with 15-under-par. Taverner’s team took third place with 13-under-par.
