Amir Malik, founder of the Muslim Golf Association, says PGA Members are pivotal to his aims of making golf safe and accessible to his communities
As founder of the Muslim Golf Association, Amir Malik holds events at golf courses all over the United Kingdom, as well as in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
The association also stages numerous tasters as well as Get into Golf events, with those for women and communities with disabilities proving very popular.
But as the association continues to grow, the demand for top quality coaching is getting ever larger.
Here, Malik explains the importance of PGA Professionals to the MGA offering and why he is looking to work with more coaches…
What work would the Muslim Golf Association like to do with PGA Professionals?
Coaches are the lifeblood of whether someone’s going to fall in love with the game and continue it or not.
We need coaches. The demand from men, women, children and communities with disabilities is so real, so intense and so high that it needs to be serviced.
They need to be introduced into the game in a safe way and in a fun way. That’s the most important thing.
The coaches I work with – I don’t care how many tournaments you’ve won. It makes no difference to me whatsoever.
How do you treat people? Do you make me feel like a million dollars? Can you explain this game in a really simple and fun way? Can you create moments of magic?
When we go and look for coaches, I want to get to know the human being. I don’t care about your golfing CV and I have communities across the country that need to be taught, to be catered for, and need to be nurtured.
We need coaches and I need female coaches. If there are any coaches out there who want to make an impact first-hand and see that impact – and you will be changing lives – then we have a phenomenal opportunity for you with the Muslim Golf Association.
