Curtis Dean made the most of a late tee time to win the opening fixture on the PGA in Lancashire Players' Tour at Fleetwood.

Wind and rain made it uncomfortable for the early starters, but when conditions improved the Hesketh assistant swept to a four-under-par 68 to finished two ahead of the 46-strong field.

But Dean cut it fine - he birdied three of the last four holes.

Kirkby Lonsdale pro Kieran Gaskell shared second place with Hart Common's Steve Parry and the ever-consistent Craig Corrigan from Haigh Hall.

PGA in Lancashire secretary Andy Duncan, in his first year at the helm, was delighted by the size of entry.

He said: "If we get as many playing at Pike Fold on May 12 I'll been even happier."
