Nick Pateman of Pinner Hill struck top form to win the Crews Hill Pro-Am with a round of six-under-par 64.

In a blemish-free round he found six birdies in the space of nine holes including four in succession between the fifth and eighth holes.

Pateman, twice Hertfordshire amateur champion, played College golf in the United States at NSU Miami.

He started his PGA career at A1 Driving Range before a move to Pinner Hill. He is currently third in the Virgin Atlantic East Order of Merit with only the PGA East Anglian Open at The Rayleigh Club on September 25 and 26 to round off the six-event season.

Runner-up at Crews Hill with four-under-par was Norfolk’s Ian Ellis from Costessey Park. He had five birdies and one dropped shot.

There was a triple tie for third place between Stuart Brown (Orton Meadows), Roger Gray (Thorndon Park) and Kevin Harrison (A1 Driving Range).

Phil Abbott of John O’Gaunt carded level par 70 and brought in the winning team of Ron Butcher, Peter Brastock and Paul Hemmings with 14-under-par 126.

Pateman’s team of Terry Boreham, Ian Cain and Ian Allen were runners-up one shot behind.

Third team prize went to Brown who played with former Tottenham Hotspur and Northern Ireland goalkeeper Pat Jennings, who plays off eight, Kevin Lynsky and Mark Lennon.

Among other amateurs taking part were John Lacy, the former Fulham, Tottenham and Crystal Palace defender and Tottenham’s former Argentinian star Ossie Ardiles.
