Grant Hamerton continued his impressive run of form with a blistering six-under-par 62 in the first round of the Hatfields Jaguar Land Rover Brough Classic.

Three days ago the Pike Fold professional set a course record 69 in the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship qualifier at revamped Cheshire course Delamere Forest.

And the former European Tour player was only a shot off equaling the mark at the Humberside club where he hauled in eight birdies to take a one shot lead in this long-running event, erring with bogeys at the 13th and final hole.

In hot pursuit tied second are reigning PGA North Order of Merit winner Adrian Ambler, from Low Laithes in East Yorkshire, and Lancastrian Barry Taylor from Houghwood.
