Jason Groat, owner of Denver Golf Centre in Downham Market, is the new Norfolk PGA stroke play champion. Groat (pictured above) won the title for the first time over 36 holes using the two courses at Barnham Broom Golf Club.

He was trailing Michael Few (Weston Park) and Ian Ellis (Costessey Park) after the first round on the Hill course.

However, a three-under-par second round of 69 on the Valley course saw him overhaul Few and Ellis and go on to win by two shots.

Groat finished on 140 while Ellis and Few were 142. Barnham Broom assistants Alex Beckett and Matt Gardner were both level with Groat after the first round with level par 71. Beckett finished fourth with 145. Ryan Pudney of Mundesley was fifth with 148.
