Brian Rimmer scored 40 points to win on home turf in the Second City Charity Pro-Am at Little Aston.

A blistering start featuring three early birdies and a holed pitch at the fourth hole for a four point eagle was the major high point of his round on a hot day in Sutton Coldfield.

Rimmer stuttered a little towards the end of the day, but one final closing birdie at the 18th sealed a two-point margin over the rest of the field.

Four players shared second place on 38 points. Andrew Jones was one of them, and he got his round off to an even more dramatic start with an eagle at the par-four first.

Joseph Smoothy (Forest of Arden) found a flourishing finish with three late birdies, Craig Swinburn (Brierley Forest) managed six in total in his round and the quartet was made up by a more familiar face as the on-form Paul Streeter (Lincoln Golf Centre) produced yet another solid round.

In the team event the 'Brewin Dolphin' Fourball team led by Swinburn emerged the victors by a three-shot margin.
