Hooper-man’s monster putt is TV gold

07/07/2014

Mark Hooper again proved a man for the big occasion as he played a starring role in the latest video from the PGA in England (East) Order of Merit event at Essendon Country Club.

The Rayleigh Club pro, who revelled in the spotlight at the BMW PGA Championship in May when he played alongside Justin Rose, sank a 35 foot putt in a four-man play-off to lift the prestigious title that has been won by Ian Poulter among others.

Great Hadham pro and The PGA’s east region captain, Paul Hetherington and his caddie, also played a starring role as they were miked up during the second round of the PGA East Region Championship in the latest innovative look behind the scenes of PGA golf.

The 15 minute film also offers a fascinating insight into tournament golf and how a modern club is thriving despite golf’s many challenges.

Highlights include some expert chipping advice from Essendon head PGA Professional Ian Taylor while co-owner Kieran Griffin talks about how the club has grown its membership from 280 to 780 in just over two years.
